Factors that Lead to Unemployment in India

Factors-that-Lead-to-Unemployment-in-India

India is one of the biggest populated countries and the majority of the population is young. A young population is considered as a boost for any country. But the youth do not get the required job and remains unemployed. That same youth become a liability and burden on the resources.

Majority of the unemployed people in India are fresh graduates. There are various reasons why Indian youth do not get the basic job even after completing a high-class degree and extra certificates as well. So here are some of the top reasons why unemployment in India is high.

Oversupply

India’s education system constantly supplying low-quality unskilled graduates in every stream. These fresh people do not have the required skill sets with then as per the requirement of the job market. When engineers were in demand before the dot-com bubble and in India BPO market, engineering colleges mushroomed to provide supply to the industry.

Low Skilled Graduates

According to a survey by India today only 7 percent of freshly passed out engineering graduates have the required skills to start their career and whopping 93 percent are not fit for any kind of engineering job.

Every year lakhs of engineering graduates are coming out in the market and do not know the basic of engineering.

Inability To Grab The Available Jobs Or Confiscate Available Option

Due to the absence of required skill sets and relevant experience, unemployed recruits or new graduates are unable to even get those jobs which are accessible in the job market. Most of the people think it’s beyond belief to take a job that’s not related to the course they completed in college. Although they do not have any relevant skill as per their degree or course in college.

Impractical Job Seekers

It’s very hard to provide a job if the applicant doesn’t even know about the basics of the industry and even do not know market ethics. Even if they’re looking at a job vacancy, most of them are not able to find out the process to submit their application, what is the job description, what are the skills needed for this job profile

Unrealistic Job Requirements from Employers

In India, a normal job post gets a huge number of applicants in every field due to the higher unemployment rate. Even for a fourth-grade job, people having a higher educational degree like Ph.D., MBA, and masters are also applying. As a way to pre-qualify applicants or to sort out the applicants from a huge number of applicants, business houses have set job pre-requirements very harsh for the people.  Below is an example of a job vacancy for a tutor in India.

To become a tutor, one has to have good knowledge about the subject, teaching skills, and friendly nature. Instead of judging the candidate on practice and skills, many employers rely on other not relevant characteristics like color, food choices for this post.  Maybe these companies just look for fresh graduates who do not ask for much salary and ready to work in any condition.
