How to solve your biggest production problems with skill development? Part 1

No matter how big your production and industrial manufacturing issues might be. There is always a solution.

If we talk about the manufacturing scene in India, the biggest challenge that every industry is facing is lack of relevant skills. The Indian companies are facing two fold competition. One from the domestic markets and another from the international markets. Now it wont make sense to have separate work force for the local market and one for the international markets. We have to be glocal in our product methodology. Now as the title of the blog post says ” solve your biggest production problems”, let us know figure out which are these big problems.

1. Problems of Union: Labor Union, is that a problem, lets be real here, yes at times they are. Labor unions are meant to address the welfare of workforce and acts as an external agency which keeps things under check. At times they become an obstacle also when they are without any rhyme or reason start creating ruckus. Above all such incidents result in wastage of precious production time. Now the you may ask how developing skills can help control labor unrest through unions. The answer is simple, if people have the adequate skills then they would have meaningful employment and would have no reason to protest.

2.Growth of Technology: Technology is growing at a faster pace than ever, Industries are also going through a technological revolution. If we take example of India, the Indian automotive sector is the biggest buyer of industrial robots. These robots are replacing humans for wielding and painting process as of now, but thats not where their capabilities end. In the coming times robots will replace more humans. So does that mean people will lose jobs. Actually not ! Only the skill will become redundant and not the human. This is where skills come in to picture. After all its the humans operating the robots and no robot can actually replace a human. Role of skill development comes in to picture here, because industries need to re train their manpower to adjust to new roles. This will also diminish the labor unrest.
