Al these initiatives is bringing different business opportunities from around the globe to Indian territory, the other benefits of this campaign are that it also reaching out to global audiences with Indian products. Especially world known Indian textile pride Benarasi textiles buzzing the world around due to its amazing quality and finished products of it. Various leading textile designers have urged the union govt. to grow the Indian textile business so that these amazing artisans can be saved.

Since long time highly skilled artisans, craftsmen, and textile weavers have been neglected by successive govt and they reached the level of extinction. After these govt intervals, these people have some rays of hope and after organizing several compact sessions, govt has brought together a team of highly skilled designers & artisans to create complete roadmap to carry out the big task of reviving this industry.

Various highly qualified are already teaming up with the artisans and weavers and have started manufacture of high-quality fabrics and handicrafts. They will be creating delicate handwork items so that people can understand the new concepts and get the feel of the work.

Textiles Ministry Major Initiatives to Boost the Sector

The textile sector carried out a raft of initiatives last few years for the growth of the entire sector. The textile & handicrafts sector benefited a lot under the Government’s latest handicrafts schemes, initiatives and business strategy, which included infrastructure & facility development, which includes Common Facility Centre in every cluster in a particular geographical location, development centers of  new design, apart from it other initiatives like direct assistance to artisans, including subsidy on machines, fee reimbursement and linking with business portal along with private sector collaboration

The handlooms sector which was in dying condition due to loss of resources and technical help also received a major push with the Government latest schemes like the emphasis on increasing the earning of handloom weavers, provide the technical help in learning new business ideas. Central govt also took some very good steps like the launching of ‘India Handloom’ brand with a complete marketing strategy for promoting high-value handloom products with new design, high-quality fabric and genuineness and quality of the product.

Govt. have also taken various steps for the power loom sector as well which includes the launching of a pilot scheme. IN this scheme poor weavers will be able to upgrade their hand operating plain power looms to semi-automatic looms. This new power looms will have additional attachments which will enable the power loom weavers to develop high-quality fabrics which can compete in domestic and international markets.

For the wool sector, CWDB, Jodhpur has launched different schemes for development & improvement of this sector. Some major schemes include such as Pashmina promotion programme, Sheep & Wool Improvement Scheme and Angora Wool Development scheme in Himachal Pradesh and Manipur.

To help producers & manufacturers of jute products and their families, the central govt has made it compulsory to pack food grains in jute bags. This initiative will boost up the sailing of jute bags and it’s by-products.

Government Policies To Help Drive Textile Sector Growth

“The Government of India (GoI) is increasingly focusing on policy to create textile jobs that are good for these people’s This industry does provide development opportunities and growth hacks due to relatively low skill requirement on the initial level.

GoI recently announced various benefits and extra package for the textile and apparel sector which includes extra incentives, Relaxation in labor laws and tax benefits and production perks to garment manufacturing units.

Due to the low margin nature of the textile industry, the introduction of such schemes, and the latest packages can lead to a huge leap in export performance. This can be seen from the fact that Indian textile sector is seeing a year on year growth in the export segment.

Govt also working on negotiations of free trade Agreements with EU, Australia, and Canada. This will help Indian exporters to be on a level playing field with other countries competitors in diverse markets.”

Govt Plans Overseas Roadshows To Boost Textile Exports

Government is also planning to organize different road shows to promote the country’s textiles and latest designer work in non-traditional markets like Russia, South America. By adding these countries in the export list, we can achieve high digit growth in upcoming years.

Due to the heavy competition from the countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam in recent years, we are losing a lot of business. These countries have high skilled labor at low cost and their govt. is also taking various initiatives. To compensate the loss govt is eyeing nontraditional markets like Russia, South American, and other Gulf countries and planning to hold road shows in these countries.

All these government initiatives are designated to help various sectors of the highly bad ridden textile sector to be revived. These people are highly skilled and by blending the latest technology help with their handicraft, we are on our path to achieve the past glory of Indian textile dominance around the world.  This can only be achieved with the help of combined efforts of govt., artisans and the general public as well.

I have added the general public as well because it is the people who will be the final destination of these products. Until people buy them, all these things will not be fruitful. So to achieve the dream of making India a global leader in textile, we the people of India also have to play our small but important role. This will ensure that we can get the desired results in the speculated time interval. High consumption will also lead to lower the cost and higher margin for the artisans and business houses as well.
