The Story of Skills Development in India

One of the most popular campaigns of skill India is ‘Fark Dikh Raha Hai’.It is becoming popular because the youth of the nation is supporting it, approximately 1 crore youth join hands with skill India every year.

The main objective of this initiative is to gather people connect them with several initiatives of MSDE such as PMKVY, Apprenticeship Training (NAPS) and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

For the song of this campaign ‘Hunar Nikhar Raha Hai, Fark Dikh Raha Hai’ is sung by the famous singer Mr.Daler Mehndi which is written by famous Indian lyricist, poet, and scriptwriter Prasoon Joshi.

On February 14, 2019, the 2nd edition of this title song has been launched. Since from its inception in July 2015, it has trained more than 1 crore youth every year to develop various employable skills in them through training and programs under the supervision of Government of India. The main objective of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship is to encourage youth and train them with employable skills.

This campaign came into existence in August last year and started gaining popularity among the public and motivate them to join it. Started creating awareness about India through various pre and post-campaign. The youth get the opportunity to polish their skills and earn a sensible decent life and most importantly this initiative makes them independent and capable to earn survival for themselves as well as for their family.

This initiative is commissioned by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) by advertising agency McCann.

Under the banner of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has transformed the lives of many people those are looking forward to learning employable skills to have decent likelihood through various schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and upgrading and upscaling of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). To provide top class training to the youth, the government has opened more than 500 multiskill Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKKs) at 490+ districts of India. The ITIs has also been increased from 10,000 to 15,000 in the past few years.

Now after providing the training to the youth, now it’s time to prove them employment where they can utilize their these skills and earn from them. So, for this Skill India has arranged more than 30 Rozgar Melas in all over the country with the aim to provide the opportunity of employment to the trained youth.
As a result of those Rozgar Melas, 1500+ employees have selected more than 60,000 trained people for different job profiles.

Skill India is the reason behind the steady growth towards converting India as the ‘human resource capital’ of the world. The various policy is driven and skill development programs have been introduced to accelerate the youth to develop employable skills according to the real-time need.

The aim of the second addition Fark Dikh Raha Hai campaign is to focus to make the youth learn about the relevant skills according to the market need and motivate them to choose their field as per their interest. So that they can contribute their services in a more better way and that will help them to have a successful career and ultimately it affects the growth of our nation also.

The skill India is extending its reach with the help of its Anthem and try to motivate as much as people to identify their talent and earn out of it MSDE is handling various schemes such as PMKVY, NAPS, ITIs, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana (PMYY).

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the scheme under the banner of skill India that aims to motivate the youth of India to learn the job required skills in the duration f 3 to 6 months in various sectors. It was started in July 2016 and benefitted over 40 lakh youth but now it is aiming to provide this training to 1 crore youth by 2020.

ITI’s are making the youth industry ready and provide the skilled employees to the Indian Industries. The ITI’s provide diploma to the candidate in one of the streams from 130 different streams. But it needs some prerequisite qualification, the candidate must be 8th to 12th standard pass.

Under the banner of MSDE in 2014, there has been an increment of 32% in the count of the ITIs and increase of the 54% as well in the seats that are available in these institutes.

Apart from this, the skill India has taken several other initiatives such as Self-grading system, which is well known for its aim to enhance the infrastructure and increase the overall quality of ITIs in all over the country.

As we all know that change is the necessity of today’s world so with respect to the real-time requirements they are trying to add new advanced skills such as cloud computing, AV/VR in these institutes that will give the bridge the gap between the youth and modern technology.

Another initiative taken by the government is NAPS – National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, it encourages corporate people to hire students from different sectors and encourage and empower them to polish their skills with the help of On Job Training. Under the banner of this scheme government also gives its contribution of 25 % in the stipend given by the company to the candidates and also the 7500 Rs for their basic training. Since its inception from August 2016, it has benefited 5 lakhs + students.
