Indian Youth Ticking Time Bomb or Potential Workforce

With a population of more than a 100 crores, India has a great asset of human resource in general. This potential resource is well exploited in the country and outside. But there is something special in 2022 as the country is all set to have a flush of young energy into its human resource pool. By 2022 the average age of the Indian population will come down to 34 which is much lesser than that of other countries in the same year.

Although not a new phenomena and a common happening in every country once after every few decades, India enjoys a special advantage in her case. At the same time, other developed countries will have a much higher average age which means they will lack the human resource only India will be able to produce.

Bliss or Misery

In every era, the exuberant energy of youth created history because this energy is to a great extent powerfully contagious and thus transforms into visible action and results. The guided expression of this energy can yield a powerful surge of consciousness and activities.

But the other side of the coin is something opposite.

Such a great force if employed with destructive intentions will work havoc and disastrous. The energy underlying goes free and, as is common in youth, will definitely fail to give it a purposeful direction. In the economy, the more revenue is generated the more it flourishes. Yes, there are other factors involved but this is the primary principle and to fulfil this principle Indian youth should generate more revenue.

But the scenario of the country is such that there are a great number of youths unemployed. And this is very grave for the economy because a lot of investments have been done on these youths by their parents and that investment is not generating revenue let alone any profit on that.

On the contrary, these youths may engage in unlawful activities in the absence of a job. Powerful forces may exploit their exuberant energy for their personal gains.

So, it is bliss if the force is guided and channelled properly to generate revenue for the country and for themselves but it might turn into a nightmare if the economy fails to cater to them.

What India Lacks

The youths shouldn’t be a burden to the country. But unfortunately, this can be the case with India because of the lack in the system. An education system that hardly aims at developing skillsets among the pupils, Indian employment scenario looks very bleak. When the youths are lacking in skills needed in an Industry, it is impossible for the employers to hire them. This is true to every industry in the world. So proper management and development of skills in the youths of India should be the primary concern if the country wants to reap the benefits of the demographic dividend due in 2-3 years.

NEEM: The Savior

Now as a savior to this problem, the government of India has introduced a revolutionary skill training program called NEEM aka National Employment Enhancement Mission. The program imparts high-quality skills to the youths at an affordable price so that they become employable and the problem of unemployment is eradicated.

Thus the program is all set to tackle the growing unemployment rate of the country and thereby bring growth and abundance.
