Why Ignoring Skill Development Will Cost You Sales

Employees are the biggest strength of any organization and they contribute to the success and failure of your company.  If the employees are trained enough with required skill sets as per industry standards, they can contribute to company success. Skill training programmes which are essential for every working member is a great medium to boost up productivity level.

If your employees are lacking the required skill sets, then the company is bound to be in loss because a less skilled worker will always be less productive and in the long term, it remains expensive. Unfortunately, some companies think that expenses on the skill development programmes are waste and the new employee will learn from the seniors and supervisors, this is a poor strategy and creates a problem for the business.

Some of the Major Impacts of lack of skills among the employees are as follows.

Unhappy Employees – When employees are occupied with relevant skills, they remain interested in performing their work well, feel proud of their jobs and increase the productivity of the company.  When they lack in the skills and are not aware of the advance process, they do not understand their jobs properly which made them unhappy. This also leads in lower morale, frustration among the workers and ultimately results in total productivity and sales.

Low Production – It is obvious that if the employee does not know the skills to perform the job with the highest quality, the production rate is bound o reduce. An unskilled employee will use more resources to carry out a task as compared to the skilled employee. Without proper skill sets, they just want to complete the work without thinking of the best possible practices.

Apart from the extra time consumption, the chances of error and poor quality are also high with unskilled labor. This leads to repetition of the work or large-scale correction. Overall in the long turn, it would be a big loss in term of production and ultimately sales figures.

Unsafe Work Environment – Untrained employee is more prone to accidents and injuries. It is obvious that when a person does not have the skills to operate a machine safely it is bound to get injured. This could be a bigger issue in the heavy work industries and hazardous materials.

It is not sufficient only to set the procedure to be followed while using the machines. Proper training with the complete procedure of the usage method will reduce the chances of accidents. The seniors need to make sure that all the employees understand the correct working process of any newly added machine or tool.

Increased Expenses – Untrained staff of any company is a sure recipe for increment in expenses and lower sales ratio.  With the injuries of labor and medical bills increment, overall expenses bound to happen and will increase the total and reduce the ROI.

Loss of Customers – Untrained employees cannot produce high-quality products.  With improper knowledge of the standard process, poor quality product will be created and which will lead to dissatisfying customers. Which will ultimately result in low sales numbers?
